Faith & Conscience
Bishop James C. Hash, Sr.
I Timothy 1:18-19...KJV THIS CHARGE I COMMIT UNTO THEE, son Timothy, ACCORDING TO THE PROPHECIES WHICH WENT BEFORE ON THEE, THAT THOU BY THEM MIGHTEST WAR A GOOD WARFARE;
19 HOLDING FAITH, and A GOOD CONSCIENCE; WHICH SOME HAVING PUT AWAY CONCERNING FAITH HAVE MADE SHIPWRECK:
We fight for the fullness of God’s blessings for ourselves and our families by engaging the prophetic WORD in our spiritual battles.
If you are going to walk into the prophecy over your life, you are required to engage in a spiritual warfare. You don’t automatically step into it; it requires a fight.
· Prophecy is a WORD from God about your future.
· When God speaks a WORD of prophecy over our lives, it is our responsibility to take that WORD and go to war with it.
· Paul told Timothy to take the prophecies and wage spiritual warfare against any and everything that tried to stop him from walking into the future that God has for him.
I Timothy 1:18-19...KJV THIS CHARGE I COMMIT UNTO THEE, son Timothy, ACCORDING TO THE PROPHECIES WHICH WENT BEFORE ON THEE, THAT THOU BY THEM MIGHTEST WAR A GOOD WARFARE;
19 HOLDING FAITH, and A GOOD CONSCIENCE; WHICH SOME HAVING PUT AWAY CONCERNING FAITH HAVE MADE SHIPWRECK:
· Paul tells Timothy to wage war having Faith and a good conscience.
· A good, or clean, conscience is connected to strong Faith.
· A defiled conscience weakens your Faith.
· Living right creates a clean conscience, and that creates strong Faith.
· Treasure and protect a clean conscience.
· This is one of the greatest things you have to build your Faith.
· Develop a Righteous Conscience.
Titus 1:15-16…KJV UNTO THE PURE ALL THINGS ARE PURE: but UNTO THEM THAT ARE DEFILED and UNBELIEVING IS NOTHING PURE; but EVEN THEIR MIND and CONSCIENCE IS DEFILED.
16 THEY PROFESS THAT THEY KNOW GOD; but IN WORKS THEY DENY HIM, BEING ABOMINABLE, and DISOBEDIENT, and UNTO EVERY GOOD WORK REPROBATE.
CONSCIENCE: Holding Faith, and a good conscience.
Sin Conscience: The believer who is always confessing his sins and weakness is building weakness, failure, and sin into his conscience – “Sin Conscience.”
· A good, or clean, conscience is connected to strong Faith.
· A defiled conscience weakens our Faith.
· Living right creates a clean conscience, and that creates strong Faith.
· Treasure and protect a clean conscience.
· If we do sin, when we confess it, “God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
· When that confession has been made, we never refer to it again.
· It is not just past history, because history can be remembered.
· It is as though it has never been.
· We should never remind ourselves, or the Lord, of our failings or of our past mistakes once we repent of them.
· They are not alive; they are forgiven and forgotten (Isaiah 43:25).
· If you confess anything, confess that you stand complete in Him that what God has said in regard to your mistakes and blunders is absolutely true.
· We should never confess our sins to people.
· We may have to ask for forgiveness of them, but then we are to repent, forgive, and forget them.
· Never tell anyone about your weakness or about your past blunders and failures. They are behind you.
· They will never forget them and sometimes will remind you of them.
· If you tell it to anyone, tell it to Jesus and then forget it (Philippians 3:13).
· It takes strong Faith to win.
· Without Faith, you will lose the battles of life.
· Your Faith brings God into the account.
I Corinthians 16:13...KJV WATCH YE, STAND FAST IN THE FAITH, QUIT YOU LIKE MEN, BE STRONG.
· WATCH YE,
· STAND FAST IN THE FAITH,
· QUIT YOU LIKE MEN,
· BE STRONG.
Jude 3...KJV Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and EXHORT YOU THAT YE SHOULD “EARNESTLY” CONTEND FOR THE FAITH WHICH WAS ONCE DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS.
· THAT YE SHOULD “EARNESTLY” CONTEND FOR THE FAITH...
Habakkuk 2:4...KJV Behold, HIS SOUL WHICH IS LIFTED UP IS NOT UPRIGHT IN HIM: but THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY “HIS FAITH.”
· THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY “HIS FAITH.”
Hebrews 10:38-39...KJV “NOW” THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH: but IF ANY MAN DRAW BACK, MY SOUL SHALL HAVE NO PLEASURE IN HIM.
39 But WE ARE NOT OF THEM WHO DRAW BACK UNTO PERDITION; but of THEM THAT BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL.
· “NOW” THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.
· IF ANY MAN DRAW BACK, MY SOUL SHALL HAVE NO PLEASURE IN HIM.
Hebrews 11:1, 6...KJV “NOW” FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.
6 But WITHOUT FAITH, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM; for HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
· “NOW” FAITH IS ...
· But without faith it is impossible to please Him.
· He that cometh to God “must believe…”
